For those who wanting to post or leave comments on the PC blog, here are the instructions for registering and basic posting.  It looks a lot harder than it is.  Once you’re set up, it’s rather quick and easy. 

• Click here to go to the registration page
• Choose a username
• Type the email address you want to use (no emails will go out to this address unless you subscribe to a feed)
• Click “Register”

 A temporary password will be sent to the email you used to register.  To change this password:

• Click here and enter your username and the temporary password provided in the email. 
• Once logged in, choose “Profile” from the left menu. 
• Scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter your new password. 
  Choose “Update Profile”

You can post to the blog one of two ways:

 When you install Windows Live Writer, you must add the PC blog info:

• Start Windows Live Writer
• Click the Blogs menu, and then click Add blog account.
• Choose Other Blog Service
• Enter www.blog.petsconnect.org as the web address
• Enter your username and password
• Confirm and click Finish

  To post:

  • If not the default, choose New then Post from the top menu
  • Enter the title of your post
  • Enter the text of your post
  • To insert photos, choose Insert then Photos from the top menu.  Follow the on screen instructions.  Once inserted, you can modify the photos by using the right menu options.
  • When finished with the text, set categories and tags from the bottom screen menu.  Categories determine where your post will be set on the blog (foster stories, volunteer corner, etc—choose the most appropriate one).  Tags are search engine optimized words that help others find your posts (dogs, cats, adoption, puppies, etc—again, choose appropriate words).
  • When you are done, click Publish from the top menu
  • Please visit the blog page in your browser to check the formatting, etc of your post. 

Browser-Based Posting
You can post to the blog directly from your internet browser:

• Visit http://www.blog.petsconnect.org/wp-login.php to login to your account
• From the left menu of your “Dashboard” click Posts then Add New
• Enter the title of your post
• Enter the text of your posts
• To add photos or videos, use the icon menu at the top of the text box
• To edit a photo, click the photo in your post and chose the edit icon; follow the on-screen instructions from there
• When you are finished writing, be sure to add tags and choose the correct category for your post before publishing from the right side menu.  Categories determine where your post will be set on the blog (foster stories, volunteer corner, etc—choose the most appropriate one).  Tags are search engine optimized words that help others find your posts (dogs, cats, adoption, puppies, etc—again, choose appropriate words).
• When you are done, choose Publish from the right side menu.  Check the blog to make sure your post published properly. 
• If you need to edit the post, choose Posts from the left “Dashboard” menu, find the title of your post from the list, and choose Edit; this will take you back to the add post page where you can make changes.
